The «Elektrizitätswerke des Kantons Zürich» – EKZ – is one of Switzerland’s leading energy service providers. More than 1'500 employees ensure a secure power supply every day.
The energy sector is full of physical brilliance, scientific pioneering, and technological excellence – yet much of it remains invisible in everyday working life. The Exploratorium brought this magic back into focus. Not through numbers or slides, but through curiosity, showmanship, and genuine «lightbulb» moments.
Visitors immersed themselves in an experimental experience world where the fascination for energy took center stage – and where they became explorers themselves.
From neon lights to sparks of insight
Even entering the Exploratorium was a statement: a neon loophole, test tube drinks – a setup that turned the ordinary into the extraordinary. On stage: the Physikanten and artists delivering spectacular show experiments with real science flair. An event that firmly placed EKZ on the cultural map in a whole new way.
High voltage meets the high society of physics
Four interactive demo labs invited even the less electricity-savvy partners to experiment and be amazed: generating power, experiencing magnetic forces and resistance – or making a cucumber glow, just for fun.
A special highlight: walking acts in historical costumes. Faraday, Ampère & Co. were brought to life through professional makeup and styling. Equipped with tray-mounted experiments, they mingled with guests – sharing charming anecdotes from the history of energy.
