To celebrate the 100th anniversary of the Familienheim Genossenschaft Zürich (FGZ), the Friesenberg neighborhood came alive with a vibrant community festival. Under the motto «zäme wachse» (growing together), around 2'500 people gathered for a weekend of culture, music and culinary delights.

Experiencing Community

The anniversary celebration invited everyone – young and old – to experience FGZ's core values. It captured the cooperative's community spirit, breaking down barriers and creating an inclusive atmosphere. The program was as diverse as the neighborhood itself, with a focus on togetherness-everyone had a chance to participate and help shape the celebration.

Celebrate Together, Grow Together

The motto «zäme wachse» was central to the anniversary concept, which was developed by standing ovation. It symbolized not only the continued growth of the FGZ as an organization, but also the growing sense of community among its members. This dual meaning perfectly reflected FGZ's vision: to be a place where people not only feel at home, but also work together for a better future.

The dual meaning also influenced our approach to designing the anniversary identity – from uncovering insights to crafting the brand story and translating it into a creative, visual experience.

Culture, Music, and Community

The anniversary weekend was a true open-air experience, with each of the two days offering something unique. Saturday was all about culture and music, with an evening program that attracted both FGZ residents and guests from outside the neighborhood. The highlight was a performance by Zurich-based reggae and pop artist Dodo, who wowed the crowd with hits like «Hippie-Bus» and «Zürimaa».

Sunday had a more relaxed, family-friendly atmosphere. The day began with a community breakfast – FGZmorge – and continued with events focused on togetherness. Families enjoyed a variety of activities, from rock-climbing walls to exhibits, all while relaxing and enjoying further performances. There was truly something for everyone.
